Minneapolis Industrial Floors by GF One Coatings

Thursday, December 17, 2009 by Edward Winslow

This project in Minneapolis is one of the industrial floors in GF One Coatings extensive portfolio. The surface is approximately 2,000 square feet. A few years ago the floor was coated by an inexperienced applicator and the coating delaminated.

GF One Coatings ground the old coatings off the surface creating a perfectly level fresh concrete surface. All the impurities and bond breakers in the floor were removed.

Then numerous coats of a polyura polyaspartic were applied with non slip buildup through every level. A non slip floor coating was imperative for the owner a local cleaning company. The company parked their vans in the garage every evening and used the space to clean their vehicles. Creating a non slip coefficient that would not wear out was a critical factor for the safety of their employees.

The color is a light gray with a high gloss that refelects light and illuminates the building. The finished floor is easy to maintain with mild soap and water using a broom and squeegee.

Minneapolis Garage Floor Expert Completes Oklahoma Project

Monday, November 16, 2009 by Edward Winslow

In this project Minneapolis garage floor expert Joe Sheehan of GF One Coatings completed the resurfacing of a 10,000 sf floor outside Oklahoma City with David Owens a local concrete coatings professional.

The owner, a local entrepreneur, had a steel building built out  for his expanding auto collection. Joe Sheehan organized and ran the project to ensure the floor was perfectly ground smooth, all cracks  filled and floor resurfaced to showroom quality that will last years.

The owner chose the One Day Floors polyaspartic system for the following reasons:
  1. Quick Application - rapid cure enabled floor to be completed in 3 days.
  2. Non Slip Floor Coating - non slip aggregate built into each layer not just the surface coat. Exceeds OSHA  and ADA non-slip guidelines.
  3. Non-Yellowing - polyaspartics don't yellow providing a surface that looks showroom condition for years
  4. Moisture Proof - One Day Floors polyaspartic coatings don't just stick to the surface, they absorb into the concrete becoming part of the floor and a moisture barrier.
  5. Recoating Ability - polyaspartics can be lightly sanded, resurfaced and put back to use years later if they wear.
  6. Ease of Maintenance - polyaspartics don't trap dirt and are easy to maintain.
  7. Warranty - Long Term Warranty provided.
Joe Sheehan, owner of GF One Coatings, is based in Minneapolis providing concrete repair and resurfacing locally for residential garage floors  and commercial projects. He travels nationwide working on commercial projects with his rapidly expanding One Day Floors network.

Minneapolis Minnesota Concrete Garage Floor Polyaspartic Restoration

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 by Edward Winslow

This is a concrete garage floor restoration completed in the Minneapolis Minnesota area, the kind that GF One Coatings completes 3 times per week all year round.

With the right equipment, experience and armed with a One Day Floor polyaspartic coating, many of GF One projects are completed in one day.

The process starts by grinding the concrete and removing old coatings. Cracks and chips in the concrete are filled. The surface preperation is the most important. Once the floor is ready which typically takes 4-6 hours for a 2 car garage, the coatings are applied.

Polyaspartic coatings have a rapid cure process typically drying in about 1 hour. This allows for 6 hours of surface prep and 3-5 hours for coatings application. It sounds easy but requires a large expense for the proper equipment, years of grinding experience to get good and the right coatings. What you don't see is late nights fixing equipment so they are ready for the next days job.

Stowe Vermont Concrete Garage Floor Restoration

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 by Edward Winslow

In this project in the Stowe Vermont area, Jake Loeffler restored a concrete garage floor with a combination of surface grinding and a polyaspartic coating.

The 600 square foot floor had an inexpensive epoxy coating applied which delaminated within a year. Jake, the owner of Garage Outfitters of Vermont, grinded the floor with his dustless vacuum system to a smooth level surface. The grinding process removed the old coating and removed the thin, top layer of concrete. This opened up the pores of the concrete allowing the first polyaspartic coat to absorb into the floor.

Then decorative chips were added followed by the top coats with abuilt in non slip aggregate. The final product will not delaminate and is resists de-icing salts, hot tire wear and chemicals while waterproofing the concrete.

Garage Outfitters of Vermont provides concrete restoration on garage floor, industrial and commercial floors statewide. Jake can be reached at 802-777-3343 or visit www.garageoutfittersvt.com

Vermont Dog Kennel Floor Resurfaced With A Polyaspartic Coating

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 by Edward Winslow

Garage Outfitters of Vermont resurfaced this dog kennel floor with a polyaspartic coating in Milton Vt.

The project was completed in two phases. The first phase was completed as a test to see how well the floor would hold up. The owner put the toughest dogs in the completed area and used the harshest cleaners.

Turns out that this is the only kennel in the area that didn't get shut down for bacteria growth. As a result the owner had Garage Outfitters back to complete the rest of the project.

One of the main reasons for prevention of bacteria growth is that polyaspartic coatings will scratch with a straight line as opposed to coatings that get frayed edges when scratched. Frayed edges trap dirt and bacteria. Straight scratches enable dirt and bacteria to be easily cleaned and keep the floor looking new for years.

Applying Concrete Dyes and Polyaspartic Coatings To A Minneapolis Garage Floor

Monday, November 9, 2009 by Edward Winslow

Applying Polyaspartic to Concrete Dyes          Finished With Exposed Aggregate

Joe Sheehan of GF One Coatings has numerous decorative options for a Minneapolis garage floor.

In this project Joe ground the concrete to a smooth level finish with his diamond grinding and dustless vacuum system. The grinding process also removes all blemishes and reveals cracks that initially were naked to the eye.

Once the floor is ground and repaired Joe and his GF One Coatings team applied concrete dyes with a polyaspartic top coat.

As you can see from the photo the polyaspartics intensify the color. Once the coating dries the color settles down but remains rich.

Minneapolis Garage Floor Coatings

Thursday, November 5, 2009 by Edward Winslow

GF One Coatings run by Joe Sheehan specializes in Minneapolis garage floor coatings and concrete restoration.

Joe, a local entrepreneur has been in the construction and property business for 25 years and the concrete floor restoration business for the past 10. Initially GF One Coatings started with epoxy applications and switched to application of polyaspartic coatings in 2006.

They found that when a floor is properly ground to a smooth flat finish and cracks are repaired, polyasrtic coatings provided extraordinary results.

Polyasrtic coatings are a thinner system than epoxies but with high performance features. They provide hot tire and chemical resistance with flexability and are non slip. As a thinner system surface preparation becomes critical to avoid blemishes from bleeding through.  Meticulous attention to restoring garage floor concrete has led to surface preparation for all kinds of flooring and coatings removal.

Applying Epoxy to a Minneapolis Garage Floor In Winter

Tuesday, November 3, 2009 by Edward Winslow

In these photos GF One Coatings applied a polyaspartic coating to a Minneapolis Garage Floor in the middle of winter.

GF One applied epoxy coatings until 2006 when they discovered Polyaspartics and their unique ability to be applied in all conditions from -30 to over 100 degrees. This opened up an opportunity to resurface refrigerated rooms without the expense of down time from emptying and warming a cold room.

This also enabled GF One Coatings to resurface garage floors and keep their business running 12 months a year.

Weather does not impact the high performance capabilities of a polyaspartic coating.

Vermont Concrete Garage Floor and Epoxy Repair

Friday, October 30, 2009 by Edward Winslow

One of the big issues with a Vermont concrete garage floor is ground moisture which results in epoxy repair.

If you have had an epoxy coating applied to your flooring and it's starting to chip and delaminate, the cause is likely extreme moisture vaport pressure pushing upwards though the air holes and capillaries in your concrete.

Moisture pressure will push salts in concrete to the surface. If your floor has an epoxy coating and it's becoming problematic this is why.

Jake Loeffler of Garage Outfitters in Burlington Vermont travels statewide grinding failed epoxies off the floor and resurfacing with a "Pure Bred" polyaspartic, an advanced technology coating. These unique concrete garage floor coaings were developed by Bayer Material Sciences originally for coating steel over 20 years ago. In recent years they found extraordinary results on concrete.

One of the most outstanding characteristcis is their ability to be absorbed into concrete and becomes part of the floor rather than being stuck to the surface. This substantially reduces failure, even with extreme mositure pressure.

How GF One Coatings Preps a Minneapolis Concrete Garage Floor

Thursday, October 29, 2009 by Edward Winslow

Blemish in Floor                                       Blemish After Being Chipped

Chipping Out All Blemishes                                      Before Filling Holes

                  Repairing Cracks                                              Grinding Smooth

Flat and Level                                                  A Perfect Floor

GF One applies polyaspartic coatings to all their Minneapolis concrete garage floor projects. Polyaspartics are an advanced technology high preformance coating but thinner than an epoxy. Epoxies have a self leveling characteristic. As a result, due to high and low spots in a floor, epoxies are thicker in some areas than another.

Polyaspartics require a perfect floor otherwise blemishes will bleed through the final decorative coating. This is not acceptable.

GF One Coatings has solved this problem with their "Prep Perfect System". After the cracks and holes in the floor are filled with their polyurea filler, the floor is grinded to a smooth, level surface. They take care to remove the high spots. Especially over expension joints which are typically higher than the main floor. The reason is that air flow at expansion joints caused a faster cure rate then the main floor. This curing process raises the height at expansion joints.

Once the floor is grinded smooth and flat it is ready for the polyaspartic coatings. It's amamzing how this system, use of the right equipment and experience can remediate a floor that looks like it has no hope. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 by Edward Winslow

Jerry Sheehan based in Ft Lauderdale runs GF1Coatings specializing in concrete garage floor resurfacing. His product of choice is a "Pure Bred" polyaspartic manufactured by One Day Floors.

The beauty of polyaspartics are their aboility to be absorbed into concrete rather than just sticking to the surface. This prevents chipping and delamination.

The process is quick thanks to this advanced technology product. In many cases a floor can be completed in 1 day depending on the condition of the floor.

The application process starts with grinding the surface with specialized equipment, fixing all the cracks and spalling followed by application of polyaspartic with decorative chips.

Polyaspartic coatings are changing the garage market. Typically an epoxy takes 3-4 days to apply. The rapid cure process adds convenience to a home owner. No longer do you have to wory about weather and having your stuff sit in your driveway all week.

Another Minneapolis Garage Floor by G-F One Coatings

Tuesday, October 27, 2009 by Edward Winslow

6 Month Old Epoxy Done Wrong                     3 Year Old Polyaspartic Floor Done Right

This is what a Minneapolis garage floor looks like with an epoxy that was improperly installed. The floor on the left is only 6 months old.

This coating was installed at a local auto repair shop on a new floor. The cracks you see were a result of using the wrong crack filler. Likely the contractor just stuffed an epoxy down the crack. The epoxy was probably too thick, didn't flow to the bottom of the crack and never dried. It stayed as a wet mess and was pushed out of the way by moisture pressure. Dirt and grease got into the crack and to this day is getting worse.

The epoxy coating is also filthy. The contractor used aluminum oxide as a non slip additive not knowing that it attracts dirt and grease. The floor is perpetually filthy and incleanable.

The problem now is that this is an ongoing business. They can't shut down to fix the floor. They are stuck with a bad floor.

This is what heppens when clients don't know the right questions to ask. Or maybe they just go with the cheap bid.  They've paid for the floor once. Now to fix the problem they will have to shut down for at least 2 days and pay for the job again.

It always cost more to do it wrong. Joe Sheehan of GF One Coatings is a Minneapolis garage floor epoxy repair and polyaspartic coatings company that does it right the first time. Visit their website at www.gfonecoatings.com or contact Joe if you have this problem at 651-748-5999.

Vail and Aspen Epoxy Repair and Concrete Garage Floor Polyaspartic Coating

Tuesday, October 27, 2009 by Edward Winslow

Garage Dekor based in the Vail and Aspen corridor specializes in epoxy repair and resurfacing concrete garage floor surfaces with a "Pure Bred" polyaspartic coating.

Due to the harsh conditions in the Colorado Rockies and a tremendous amount of ground moisture and freeze thaw issues, concrete cracks and epoxy coatings chip and delaminate.

One of the biggest issues facing property owners is cracks in a concrete garage floor. Melting snow off cars gets into the cracks, ultimatley causing water damage in basements. The result is an expensive remediation job.

Garage Dekor fixes this problem while providing a waterproofing solution. If an epoxy coating has failed they grind it off the surface. Then they grind the floor smooth and fill all the cracks. Cracks are filled all the way to the bottom with a proprietary polyurea. This protects the final polyaspartic coating from lifting.

The final result is a waterproof, non slip floor coating that protects against future failure.

Minneapolis Garage Floor Repair and Polyaspartic Non Slip Coatings

Monday, October 26, 2009 by Edward Winslow

The picture in the upper left is of Spancrete, precast concrete, that is installed under thousands of Minneapolis garage floor surfaces.

Spancrete is frequently over basements, providing strength for cars to be parked above. When homes are built with this system, concrete is poured over Spancrete about 4 inches thick.

However, natural settling, and weight of vehicles cause cracks. When water gets inside, it leaks to the basement. Now you have a basement moisture issue.

GF One Coatings has fixed hundreds of Minneapolis garage floor surfaces providing crack repair and a decorative waterproofing solution. They grind the floors smooth, repair all the cracks, then apply a non slip polyaspartic coating that flexes with surface movement.

You can read numerous Case Studies about floors like yours at www.gfonecoatings.com.

How A Polyaspartic Coating Took The Bugs Out Of a Minneapolis Garage Floor

Saturday, October 24, 2009 by Edward Winslow

One day over the summer when the temperature and wind were just right, 100's of bugs decended onto a GF One freshly coated Minneapolis garage floor.

Joe Sheehan and his team had grinded the floor, fixed all the cracks, applied a few polyaspartic non slip coats. About 30 minutes before the floor coating dried, while it was still tacky, 100's of bugs were somehow attracked to the sweet smell of a freshly coated Minneapolis garage floor.

And there they stuck. Imbedded into the floor while Joe and the owner were admiring the finished floor. They couldn't believe their eyes. Frantically they ran to close the door but it was too late. The damage was done. Whose fault? Nobody's really, but now the owner has a beautiful floor with hundreds of unsightly bugs.

Joe knows his product and knows his business. The owner had contracted GF One Coatings to provide a nice floor. Fortunately a polyaspartic coating can be lightly sanded and resurfaced. No problem. "we'll just add another coat", said Joe. Case Solved! Happy customer.

Joe Sheehan owner of GF One Coatings provides concrete repair, surface prep and resurfaces Minneapolis garage floors with "Pure Bred" polyaspartic coatings. Joe can be reached at 651-748-5999

Minneapolis Garage Floor Polyaspartic Coatings

Friday, October 23, 2009 by Edward Winslow

There's a lot to know to be a successful Minneapolis garage floor coatings applicator.

Moisture presents the most signficant issue having far reaching effects. Moisture gets underneath a slab and extensive pressure pushes upwards causing coatings to delaminate and chip. Freeze/thaw factors cause the ground to move and open up cracks.

De-icing salts tracked into a garage eat away at the top surface. This opens up the pores allowing water to soak into the concrete.

G-F One Coatings has studied these issues for years and developed a unique floor coating system. Polyaspartic coatings will withstand tremendous pressure well above the industry standard of 3 lbs. per 1,000 sf.  Not all polyaspartic coatings will perfform. Only certain "Pure Bred" blends.

But it's not just the product. Proper surface prep is critical to long term perfomance of a Minneapolis Garage Floor polyaspartic coating. Joe Sheehan has completed hundreds of projects with his "Prep Perfect System".  This includes grinding the surface, opening up the pores of the concrete, fixing all the cracks, then applying the coatings.
