Applying Concrete Dyes and Polyaspartic Coatings To A Minneapolis Garage Floor

Applying Polyaspartic to Concrete Dyes          Finished With Exposed Aggregate

Joe Sheehan of GF One Coatings has numerous decorative options for a Minneapolis garage floor.

In this project Joe ground the concrete to a smooth level finish with his diamond grinding and dustless vacuum system. The grinding process also removes all blemishes and reveals cracks that initially were naked to the eye.

Once the floor is ground and repaired Joe and his GF One Coatings team applied concrete dyes with a polyaspartic top coat.

As you can see from the photo the polyaspartics intensify the color. Once the coating dries the color settles down but remains rich.

You can read more about the GF One Coatings processes in their Case Study section at www.gfonecoatings.com

Surface Tone of Miami Uses Concrete Dyes

Thursday, October 22, 2009 by Edward Winslow

This project was completed by Dan DiLeonardo of Surface Tone of Miami. The floor was resurfaced with a concrete skim coat then colored with concrete dyes.

That natural gray was used to create a hip, high end image, but without distracting from the crystal available for sale by Juliska.

Really neat space in a warehouse building with high ceilings. The ceiling was painted a whiteish gray to provide an open feeling. Surface Tone first had to cut through the concrete floor about 6 inches deep to allow for plumbing. Then they filled in the concrete with hydrilic cement and ground smooth. This enabled them to skim coat the floor without blemishes bleeding through.

The skim coat was Sgarffino and the concrete dyes, blue and gray. Products are available by Duraamen. Dan DiLeonardo of Surface Tone can be reached in Miami at 786-454-9920.

Using Concrete Dyes by Surface Tone Of Miami

Wednesday, October 21, 2009 by Edward Winslow

Surface Tone of Miami completed this resturant floor project by coloring with concrete dyes. The surface is a self leveling concrete applied about 3/8 th inch thick.

The self leveling concrete enabled Dan DiLeonardo of Surface Tone to perfectly match the floor height at doorways and tile leading into the commercial kitchen. 1,500 square feet of self leveling concrete was applied in about 2 hours.

The second day of the project was application of the concrete dyes. Dan used a combination of solvent and water based dyes to achieve levels of variation. It came out great. The final sealer, a urethane, created light reflection pulling wall colors into the floor, intensifying the floor colors.

The project was completed in 3 days. For more information contact Dan DiLeonardo of    Surface Tone Miami at 786-454-9920.

Sealing Concrete Dyes With a Polyaspartic Coating

Tuesday, October 20, 2009 by Edward Winslow

Is there anythiing a polyaspartic coating can't do? This floor was ground down by G-F One Coatings in Minneapolis then colored with concrete dyes.

In the photo with the roller notice how the new coating intensifies the color. The color pops immediately, then it tones down as the polyaspatic dries. The grinding process in this project slightly exposed the aggregate.

The finished concrete dyes are variegated amber with a semi-gloss finish. The top coat can be waxed making this an ideal floor for restuarants or retail stores.

Yes, This Is a Stained Concrete Floor

Friday, October 16, 2009 by Edward Winslow

What looks like an southwestern style rug is actually a stained concrete floor. This beauty was created by Tamryn Doolan owner of Surface Gel Tek in Mesa Arizona.

Tamryn created a unique system, a combination of stencils called "Flattoos", concrete dyes and her gelled acids that has opened up a growing market of artistry on concrete.

Tamryn provides training, stains and custom Flattoos made in any size or shape. Fast too. I've ordered Flattoos in the morning and received them the following day. Awesome!
